We are located 15 miles east of Kiowa, Colorado about 1½ hours from Denver. When co-workers found out where we live they called us flat landers, we are anything but flat, residing at an elevation of 6,200 feet we consider the area rolling hills. We enjoy the local wildlife and being sung to sleep at night by the coyotes. Having no ranch experience, we would be what some call city people. When we moved to the country we knew we wanted to raise cattle but didn’t know which breed. After months of research we came across the Lowline breed. Lowline cattle are perfect for small acreage homes, as the Lowline’s are quite a bit smaller than other cattle they also eat less so there is no longer a need for large acreage ranches. Averaging about 2 Lowline’s to 1 larger animal these animals are a good fit for small acreage properties. Lowline’s can be raised for profit, for personal meat source or as a pet either way these little cattle fit just about any ones needs. In many areas, small acreage homes with a minimum number of cattle may even qualify for an agricultural tax exemption status. As pets they are in general very docile and easy to handle, naturally polled so there will be no horns to worry about. Our cattle have all been hand fed, and will race to meet you at the gate at feeding time. The calves are so irresistibly cute, you can spend hours watching them head butt and chase each other in the pasture. So whether you are looking for a lawn ornament, pet or a personal source of home raised meat, the Lowline is the perfect animal.
